On the 4th and the 5th of June depending on where in the world you are, there will be a new moon in the constellation of Gemini.
Gemini is a mutable fire sign ruled by Mercury, representing all kinds of communication, short journeys, information gathering, ideas and thoughts. Mercury also represents the nervous system which is the highway for commands and messages to be sent in the body.
In our solar system, it is the closest planet to the sun taking only 88 days to complete its orbit. So if you think how long it takes for messages to travel in your body to say move your arm, imagine the complexity and speed of what’s involved for an orbit to occur!
Gemini is the twins ruling both sides of our brain, the communication between our heart and head, leading to confusion and the inability to make a decision. Sometimes we just want that extra bit of information. It can lead to information overload and sometimes can paralyse us where we just become stuck. We can’t turn our thinking off; however, we can watch what thoughts we are having.
The new moon is a “Yang” energy expressing itself outwards. This is where you set an intention and feel it in your body. The Gemini new moon is where you may get new ideas, look for a new job or take on new projects. Expect things to be revealed and be aware of gossiping; our words are powerful so watch what you are saying.
Each new moon reminds us of the seeds we plant for the beginning of what we would like expressed in the full moon that follows, if we so desire.
During this time listen to your inner guidance, be aware of the endless mind chatter that can be negative and puts you in a downward spiral. You may feel quite restless and find yourself taking some short trips you didn’t plan, so you can expect to be busier; however, listen to your body so you also get some rest.
Here are some suggestions for good things to do during this new moon in Gemini.
- Start a new project
- Jot down any new ideas
- Be creative – do something new
- Learn or teach something new
- Take a short trip
Geminis are also known for their quick wit, contrariness and chattiness. They also have new ideas, particularly in doing and approaching things in a new or different way. If you know any Geminis you may notice they will always say the opposite to you, so agreement may be impossible. However, that’s okay as sometimes we need to have another point of view.
One of the brilliant abilities of Geminis is how well they can communicate. They can be quite talkative and their speech can go at the speed of light. Be patient with these ones as sometimes they just have to get everything out. The mutable energy of Gemini makes it one of the most adaptable signs of the zodiac.
Some famous Geminis who are doing things in a new way are:
Donald Trump – so different to what we’ve seen in the past – look at how he is behaving leading up to the Presidential election.
Johnny Depp – well-known for his new ways of portraying unusual characters.
Alan Carr – the talk show host whose show is called Alan Carr “Chatty Man”.
Others worth mentioning are Angelina Jolie and Prince and of course one of the most famous of all, Marilyn Monroe.
Look at these amazing people to get a better idea of the incredible energy of Gemini.
For those of you on days 4 to 6 of your cycle, you’ll be feeling chattier and you may feel like you are coming out of your shell. You could be involved in heated debates or gab sessions with your girlfriends. The biology of what is happening in your body at this time is complex due to a form of oestrogen called oestradiol. You may be having special feelings of adventure, optimism, excitement and super sharp wit which all enhance the energy of Gemini.
If you are around day 9 be aware of the internal relentless chatter, analysing and over analysing of conversations and events. Try to structure your brilliant hyper-active analysing mind by writing down your thoughts in a journal. Once you’ve written down all of the factors and formed your perspective, it’ll be easier to put the issue at rest in your own mind.
Be aware that the feel good hormone oestrogen is crashing as you are at that point in your cycle just after ovulation; some women have described this as being worse than PMS. Hormones will be dropping off around days 23 to 24, kicking off PMS. Be mindful of the power of your words.
It is recommended you take time to do meditation, look at your nutrition and what you are putting into your body and how it’s making you feel.
