I invite you to try this simple and effective exercise:
Gently close your eyes and imagine you are walking along a beautiful beach. Feel the sun on your face, the coarse sand softly crunching beneath your feet.
Take your awareness to the waves of the ocean.
Notice the ebb and flow of the tide, the waves building and then softly expelling their energy onto the sand. Hear the sound of the waves and notice how it sounds similar to the natural flow of your breath.
Connect your breath to the sound of the ocean. Each inhale you take is like the wave building; each exhale is the wave gently breaking on the shore. With each inhale imagine you are drawing all the negative and low vibrational energy that lies within you into your lungs. As you gently exhale, imagine all that stress, tension and negative energy being expelled onto the sand as the wave breaks onto the shore.
As the water seeps slowly into the sand, all of your stress, tension and worry follows it and disperses among the grains of sand dissolving into nothingness.
Keep breathing in this fashion until you feel your spirit become lighter.
When you feel ready, gently open your eyes and smile, welcoming yourself back to your day.
